Eminent Pakistani actor Yusuf Kamal, popularly known by his screen name “Shakeel”, passed away at 85 in Karachi on Thursday 29th June 2023, family sources confirmed.
Shakeel is a Pakistani film and tv actor who has worked in the Pakistani film industry and dramas. He is known for his comic roles and has appeared in numerous movies. Shakeel’s career in the film industry spans several decades, and he has worked alongside top actors and actresses of his time.
The veteran actor, immortalised by his thespian excellence in PTV’s plays written by writer Haseena Moin like Uncle Urfi, Parchaiyan, and AnKahi, as well as Aangan Tehra written by Anwar Maqsood succumbed to protracted illness in the metropolis, where he was under treatment in a private hospital. Shakeel had also undergone a heart bypass surgery some years back.
The veteran actor had undergone a bypass surgery some years ago and suffered from arthritis — a disease of the joints — for the past several years. Shakeel Sahab had difficulty walking and was often helped by an employee.
