Following prolonged illness, Begum Kulsoon Nawaz, wife of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif passes away in London. She was diagnosed with lymphoma on August 2017 and since than had been under going treatment at London’s Harley Street Clinic. The news was confirmed by PML wing in a tweet announcing the sad demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

Army Chief General Qamar Jawed Bajwa and other prominent names, expressed grief and heartfelt condolences over Begum Kulsoom’s death.

Kulsoom was born into a Kashmiri family in Lahore. Kulsoom had two sisters and a brother. From her maternal side, she is the granddaughter of the wrestler The Great Gama most famous as Gama Pehalwan. Kulsoom Nawaz, attended Islamia College and graduated from the Forman Christian College in Lahore. She received a master’s degree in Urdu from the University of the Punjab in 1970.
She married former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif in April 1971. The couple have four children, Maryam, Asma, Hassan and Hussain.
