The much awaited business event of the year, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Elections 2020 were held on 27th December 2019 at the Federation house in Karachi, well attended by Pakistan’s leading Businessmen.
The elections saw a major upset where the Businessmen Panel (BMP) lead by acclaimed Entrepreneur/Businessman, Mian Anjum Nisar, were victorious against the United Business Group (UBG).
Leading from the front, Mian Anjum Nisar got 186 votes and was elected as president whereas his opponent United Business Group candidate Dr Nouman Butt secured 166 votes.
Mian Anjum Nisar in his victory speech mentioned that they would push the government to initiate long-term economic planning for the betterment of business community of Pakistan and assured that the business community of our country has the ability to change the fate of Pakistan and transform it into a prosperous country.
The BMP group also assured that they will change fate of the Federation in real terms by becoming the voice of Pakistan’s business community, developing trade and industry and will restore the lost prestige of the federation chambers.
Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) was founded in 1950 and since its inception it has advocated and voiced the collective opinion, concern and aspiration of the private sector and offered helpful advice and solid assistance to the Government in its efforts to promote exports, encourage foreign investment and stimulate economic activity in the country. The FPCCI has its fingers on the pulse of the economy and serves as a bridge between the private sector and the Government.
Henceforth, we believe this newly elected body of FPCCI is yet another much needed change for our country and now FPCCI has a dynamic team to solve country’s economical problems under the visionary leadership of President Mian Anjum Nisar.
