CM Maryam Nawaz Expands Free Wi-Fi Program to Over 230 Locations in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the expansion of the “CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi” program, which now offers free internet access at over 230 locations across the province. This major initiative aims to enhance digital connectivity and bridge the digital divide in several key areas, including Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, and Sheikhupura, as reported by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA).

The expansion has introduced 200 Wi-Fi hotspots in Lahore, 10 in Kasur, 15 in Sheikhupura, and 5 in Nankana Sahib, making internet access more available and convenient for millions of residents. Since its rollout on June 16, the program has already attracted over 7.7 million users, who have collectively consumed an impressive 111 terabytes of data. The service boasts a high availability rate of 98.7%, ensuring consistent and reliable access for all users.

A PSCA spokesperson emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that it significantly improves access to online resources, particularly for education and business. “This program is a major step toward digitizing the province and providing free internet access to everyone, regardless of location,” they said.

By offering free Wi-Fi in both urban and rural areas, the project enables residents to connect to the digital world and benefit from various online opportunities. Whether it’s attending virtual classes, searching for job opportunities, or managing day-to-day tasks, the availability of free internet is making life easier for many.

The expansion of the free Wi-Fi program is a key component of the government’s broader efforts to improve the quality of life for all citizens. With reliable internet access, residents can now engage in educational and economic activities that were previously out of reach for many.

As this program continues to grow, it is expected to contribute to a more connected and informed society in Punjab, fostering opportunities for personal and professional growth in the digital age.

This initiative marks a significant step toward bridging the digital divide and creating a more inclusive, tech-savvy future for Punjab.
