The third and final day of the 7th Annual International Karachi Conference showcased research by young scholars from the Institute of Business Administration’s (IBA) Karachi Urban Lab (KUL), and students from Habib University’s (HU) Social Development Program at the JS Auditorium, IBA Karachi, city campus.
Soha Macktoom from KUL presented her research on informal settlements; international scholar Kevin Shi impressed the crowd with his perfectly enunciated Urdu and his findings in the Dawn archives on Karachi in the Ayub Khan era. Arsam Saleem and Fizza Qureshi explored the avenues of resistance available to under-privileged groups. Zahra Batool and Shahmir Faisal from HU presented their field research on Afghan migrants to Pakistan.

The other panelists were urban planner Arif Hasan, Sociology Professor Dr. Severine Minot, and the winner of the Aga Khan award for low income housing Tasneem Siddiqi.
