Doctors hold press conference in Karachi clearly rejecting Government’s SOP’s and insisting on strict implementation of lockdown. They highlighted that these SOPs between Government & the Ulema will lead to disastrous consequences.
Indus Hospital CEO Dr Abdul Bari Khan clearly mentioned that coronavirus cases in hospitals witnessed a sharp rise after the government eased a partial lockdown that it had announced last month on April 14th 2020.
Indus Hospital CEO Dr Abdul Bari Khan also said that health facilities responding to the coronavirus health crisis in Karachi are “nearly full” and more than 162 doctors and technical staff have been tested positive, in Sindh alone.
Dr Atif Hafeez Siddiqui of the Pakistan Islamic Medical Association also said that the medical community demands a “strict and complete” lockdown & prevention of congregations of all sorts to curb the spread of the coronavirus
“We are the ones at the forefront of this battle. We are willing to take the blame and give an excuse to the Government & religious quarters to cite us but please do not relax the lockdown” said the Doctors during the press conference.
