Eid-Ul-Adha 2024 in Pakistan: Expected to Fall on June 17

Eid-Ul-Adha, one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar, is expected to be celebrated on June 17 in Pakistan, subject to the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan will make the final announcement regarding the moon sighting.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted a strong possibility that the moon for the holy month of Zil Hajj will be visible on Friday, June 7. If this prediction holds true, the first day of Zil Hajj will be on June 8, and Eid-Ul-Adha will be celebrated on Monday, June 17.

Supporting this prediction, the International Astronomy Center has also indicated that Islamic countries are likely to see the Zil Hajj moon on June 7. As per the Islamic calendar, the 10th day of Zil Hajj is observed as Eid-Ul-Adha, which will fall on June 17 if the moon is sighted on June 7.

Eid-Ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. Muslims around the world observe this day with prayers, feasts, and the sacrifice of animals, sharing the meat with family, friends, and the less fortunate.
