Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has officially confirmed the much-awaited sequel to his 2007 action thriller Awarapan. Titled Awarapan 2, the film will be released in cinemas on April 3, 2026. Fans of the original film have been eagerly waiting for the continuation of the intense and gripping story that made the first movie a cult classic.
In a heartfelt social media post on his birthday, Emraan shared the exciting news, writing. “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.” This announcement has generated a lot of buzz among fans, who are excited to see the next chapter in the journey of Shivam, the character portrayed by Emraan.
The original Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, was a remake of the South Korean film. A Bittersweet Life and quickly became a fan favorite. The film featured intense action sequences, a soulful soundtrack. And a gripping storyline that kept audiences at the edge of their seats. Emraan Hashmi’s portrayal of Shivam, a man caught in a complex emotional conflict, was widely appreciated by critics and audiences alike. The film also starred Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana.
Awarapan 2: Nitin Kakkar Directs, Bilal Siddiqui Writes
For the sequel, Nitin Kakkar will take on the director’s role, while Bilal Siddiqui has written the script. Awarapan 2 is expected to explore deeper elements of Shivam’s journey, focusing on his redemption and new challenges. Vishesh Bhatt, known for his work with Raaz, Jannat, and Murder, will produce the film under Vishesh Films.
