Forbes lists Pakistan born Shahid Khan as 66th Richest Man In US

Shahid Khan, a Pakistan born American, has emerged as the 66th richest man in the United States (US) in Forbes list of 400 wealthiest Americans. As per the report, Khan has a net worth of $7.8 billion.

It is not the first time that Khan is featured in Forbes. In 2012, Khan was on the front cover of Forbes magazine, naming him as the face of the American Dream. Khan was born in Lahore to a middle-class family in 1950. It was in Lahore that he received his early education. Shahid Khan then went to the US at the age of 16 to pursue his career as an architect.

Fact: Shahid Khan arrived in the United States from Pakistan at age 16 with just $500 in his pocket.

He acquired his bachelors in B.Sc with Industrial Engineering from UIUC College of Engineering, in 1971.

Shahid Khan was born in Lahore, Pakistan, to a middle-class family involved in the construction enterprise. His mother (now retired) became a professor of arithmetic. He moved to the U.S in 1967 at the age of 16 to study engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and alongside started working at auto-parts maker Flex-N-Gate. After he graduated he was appointed as the engineering director of Flex-N-Gate. He started bumper-maker Bumper Works in 1978, and also bought his former employer Flex-N-Gate two years later.

Over the next three decades, Khan expanded the closely held company into a business with more than 60 manufacturing plants across the U.S. and sales of more than $8 billion. He tried to buy the National Football League’s St. Louis Rams in 2010, and failed when billionaire Stan Kroenke exercised his right of first refusal to buy the team. Khan purchased the Jacksonville Jaguars for about $770 million a year later and in 2013 the Fulham Football Club, then of the English Premier League.
