Pakistan’s Haniya Minhas continued her winning streak to claim the 14 & under Istiqlol Cup Asian Tennis Federation tournament in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on Tuesday.
According to information made available here by Pakistan Tennis Federation, the final proved an easy ride for the top seed as she outplayed third seed Anisa Yakhyaeva of Tajikistan 6-0, 6-1 in straight sets.
Throughout the tournament, Haniya displayed stunning form, winning all her matches in an impressive and convincing fashion without losing a set.
This is the second consecutive title for the 10-year-old Haniya.
Earlier, on July 16 she became the first ever Pakistani girl to be crowned an ATF 14& U champion at Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Meanwhile, Haniya, who teamed up with Sumaya Tukhtaeva of Tajikistan also annexed the doubles title, beating Saiyora Rajabalieva and Anisa Yakhyaeva of Tajikistan 7-5, 6-4 in a hard-fought final.
President PTF Salim Saifullah Khan and the Executive Committee of PTF extended their felicitation to Haniya and her parents on the accomplishment.
“It is a great honour for Pakistan and the Pakistan Tennis Federation as Haniya has managed to win two back-to-back titles on the ATF 14&U Circuit,” they said in a message. “Haniya’s triumph will prove to be an inspiration for other players, especially young girls, and serve as a motivating factor for upcoming players,” they added.
With this win, Haniya has moved up to number 18 in the ATF 14&U rankings.
