Harnaaz Sandhu of India has been crowned as the winner of the 70th Miss Universe pageant held last night in Eilat, Israel. The 21-year-old stunner left behind 79 other candidates during the 70th Miss Universe pageant and was crowned Miss Universe 2021. South Africa’s Lalela Mswane was declared the second runner-up and Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira was the first.
The Miss Universe 2021 pageant included traditional displays of national costumes, swimwear and a series of interview questions to test contestants’ public speaking skills.
Harnaaz Sandhu becomes the third Indian woman to be crowned as Miss Universe 2021 after Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta. Previously, she has won the titles of Miss Diva 2021, Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, and was a semifinalist at Femina Miss India 2019.

Harnaaz Sandhu is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned as Miss Universe 2021.
Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu (born 3 March 2000) is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned as Miss Universe 2021, and is the third Indian woman to win the title of Miss Universe. Sandhu had been previously crowned Miss Diva Universe 2021.
Sandhu has been additionally crowned as Femina Miss India Punjab in 2019, and placed as a semifinalist at Femina Miss India 2019.
Early Life
Sandhu was born and raised in Chandigarh in a Punjabi Sikh family. She attended Shivalik public school Chandigarh and the Post Graduate Government College for Girls from Chandigarh. Apart from representing Miss Universe title, Harnaaz is pursuing her master’s degree in public administration. She is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, and English.
Miss Universe 2021
As Miss Diva 2021, Sandhu received the right to represent India at Miss Universe 2021.
The competition was held on 12 December 2021 in Eilat, Israel.
Sandhu advanced from the initial pool of 80 contestants into the top sixteen, later advancing to the top ten, top five, and top three, before being crowned as the winner. Following her win, she became the third Indian woman to be crowned Miss Universe after Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.
