Esha Arain: I’m Esha Arain, a Karachi-based artist. I made my music debut in October 2022 with a single that highlighted an important mental health issue. My educational background includes a degree in Fashion Design from the prestigious Istituto Marangoni, London School of Fashion. This educational foundation enables me to seamlessly integrate visual elements into my music, creating distinctive audiovisual experiences. My extensive international exposure in the fashion world, combined with my experience in modeling, entrepreneurial spirit, and a certified background in acting, allows me to bring a wealth of versatility to my artistry. I actively contribute to every facet of my work, ranging from vocals, lyrics, storyboards, styling, production, to directing my music videos. My music defies genre boundaries, reflecting my limitless creativity and unwavering commitment to true artistic expression.

Can you tell us about the moment when your passion for music was ignited, and how long have you been immersed in the world of music?

Esha Arain: My passion for music was ignited during the pandemic in 2020. It was a transformative period in my life when I accidentally discovered my ability to write songs, despite having no formal training in music. This revelation felt like a sign from the universe, prompting me to delve deeper into the world of music. Recognizing my lack of expertise in both music composition and singing, I embarked on an extensive self-taught journey. Along the way, I sought guidance from a talented music producer who steered me in the right direction. I dedicated myself wholeheartedly to this pursuit, putting aside other creative endeavors. Throughout this period, I continued to write songs and immersed myself in learning about the intricacies of the music industry. It took me more than two years to launch my first song, a journey I deliberately extended as I also undertook the responsibilities of producing and directing the accompanying music video. This decision, while challenging, provided me with invaluable insights and skills as an artist.

Are there any artists or musicians who have had a significant impact on your music?

Esha Arain: While my music style is unique and distinct, I’ve certainly drawn inspiration from the journeys and styles of various artists. Although no one has had a direct and significant impact on my music, I greatly admire the artistic styles of artists like Beyonce’, Billie Eilish, and Lana Del Rey. Their music has resonated with me, and I appreciate the way they’ve carved out their own paths in the industry, which has influenced my approach to music in its own way.

Does music run in your family, with other members also having a knack for playing instruments or singing?

Esha Arain: While my family primarily pursues traditional professions like engineering, law, medicine, and finance, I stand out as the one passionate about media, arts, music, and fashion. Interestingly, my dad, although not in a musical career, had a melodious voice and was known for his singing talent during his college days. I have fond childhood memories of him singing.

Beyond your musical endeavors, what other interests or activities do you engage in?

Esha Arain: I have a diverse range of interests and activities beyond music. I’ve dabbled in modeling, styled brands, and even established my own retail brand. Additionally, I earned certification in Acting with the intention of pursuing films. However, my focus shifted due to shifts in the local entertainment industry. Presently, my primary dedication lies in my music, particularly in crafting narrative-based videos that enable me to showcase my acting skills as well. Additionally, I have a fervor for travel, dance, cinema, reading, and literature.

Esha Arain: Set in a lively city with a bustling transit and neon-lit backdrop, the story revolves around two individuals who discover each other amidst the urban energy. As the music’s beat kicks in, we follow a boy and a girl on adventurous nights with their friends, filled with laughter, dancing, and spontaneous moments. These two hearts find love amid the excitement, creating a visual journey that complements the song’s vibe. With its vibrant colors, dynamic visuals, and a narrative centered on embracing the joy of the moment, the music video invites viewers to immerse themselves in a world where music and young love intertwine.

Any memorable moments or anecdotes from the video shoot that you’d like to share?

Esha Arain: The video shoot in Lahore was a unique experience, as it coincided with a period of political turmoil in the country. Despite the challenges of potential cancellations and postponements, our time on set was marked by remarkable moments of camaraderie and authenticity. What made this shoot truly memorable was the incredible bond shared among the cast and crew. It felt less like work and more like a gathering of close friends. Laughter, giggles, and moments of silliness were commonplace, creating an environment where creativity could thrive. One of the most exceptional aspects of this shoot was that it allowed everyone, including the supporting characters, to be themselves. There were no elaborate acts or pretenses, which kept the atmosphere natural and relatable. This authenticity translated beautifully onto the screen, adding a unique charm to the video.
