Rabi Pirzada is a Pakistani pop singer and TV Host. Recently the singer was in the midst of a controversy and here is all that you need to know about it.
THE RABI PIRZADA CONTROVERSY
Last month Pirzada took to the internet and posted a video where she is seen holding snakes and talking to Indian Prime Minister Narender Modi. She gave him threats and said that she wishes to imprison him with reptiles so that they can feast on him. This stunt divided the internet where some lauded her for her courage, others trolled her for putting up such a shameful video in answer to Modi revoking Article 270 in Kashmir.
In another viral video, she wore a suicide bomber jacket and was seen sending a message to Modi. Hashtagging it “Kashmir Ki Beti”, She faced a lot of backlash for posting both her videos but what came next was what put her directly in the path of a scandal. Her intimate photos and videos were leaked on the internet!
Since then the internet is talking about her. Some say it was revenge porn while others say that it was a publicity stunt. However, we feel like Rabi Peerzada could have been a victim of revenge porn.
WHAT IS REVENGE PORN?
Revenge porn is when someone who somehow got hold of your intimate pictures releases them as a way of embarrassing you. It comes with the onslaught of stigma and a huge personal price, emotionally and physically.
With this controversy, another question has been sparked that is when a celebrity’s or anyone’s personal data is released how should the internet react? Should the victim be further bullied and schooled or the perpetrator be given a strong warning? The response to Rabi’s leaked videos has been harsh. She has filed a complaint with the FIA but trolls have made things difficult for her too, tweeting words that are hurtful and inconsiderate.

Rabi Pirzada started her career as a singer in 2005 with the release of her first album Jadoo. The success of “daadi kuree” a catchy number from the album exposed her to a new world of art and entertainment. Other hits that caught the attention of large number of the audience were Jadoo , Ranjhna and Boom Boom from the same album. After getting a tremendous response from the public Rabi, worked day and night to release another album next year in 2006.
With the release of her album “Mughay Ishq Hai” some new trends were also introduced breaking the stereotypes in the industry as for the first time the video showcased a girl wearing jeans and tank top. Some of the popular numbers like Disco Deewane ,Nachna and Boom Boom were also presented by Rabi with a new flavour and upbeat music. There was no way looking back after the release of this second album as she won an award for the best emerging talent in the same year. This opened avenues for international concerts across America, Canada, Europe, UK, UAE and many more.
Later she took a break for the completion of her formal education. In 2014 her third album “Aahat” was released including hits like kisi ke ho ke raho, khwaboon Mein and meri zameen tu. While working simultaneously on her third album she accomplished a degree of software engineering. Rabi, took her passion for creative arts to another level by exploring her talent in fine arts and won an award in an Inter Collegiate competition in 2012. In last two years she has produced some peppy and romantic singles like chori chori in 2016 & Rashke Qamar a tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s music in 2017.
As for 2018 she produced some funky and upbeat numbers that include” fraudian” and” jeele” which become instant hits. Meanwhile she also hosted a popular infotainment show “what’s up with Rabi” for a local news channel. Celebrities from different walks of life are interviewed in an informal sitting who are interviewed about their personal and professional lives. This show includes celebrities from the world of politics, showbiz sports and music. Rabi, also featured as a lead in her debut movie titled “Shor Sharaba” that was released in 2018.
