Islamabad (4th February 2017): Izhar by Film Fellowship, an initiative of Morango, will be conducting a 4-day filmmaking training session in Islamabad from 16th February to 19th February 2017. The first fellowship revolves around the social and political rights of women and is being supported by UN Women Pakistan. A pool of 60 applicants from all across Pakistan along with the seasoned trainers and mentors will be attending the training session on filmmaking.
The applications for Izhar by Film Fellowship program were invited from all over Pakistan for its first intake. More than 200 applications were received through the call for entries and after a comprehensive process, 60 applicants were shortlisted after extensive evaluation. It has been aimed to maintain an equal ratio of males and females amongst those that have been shortlisted to be part of the fellowship program.
Abrar Ul Hassan, Founder of Morango, stated, “It is quite overwhelming to have such a diverse pool of applicants from Pakistan onboard who would become the voice of Izhar by Film Fellowship to advocate social and political issues through the art of filmmaking.”
Izhar by Film Fellowship on the social and political rights of women intends to be an avenue for channelizing the main objective of this program i.e. creating an understanding for the social and political rights of women and inculcating the practical knowledge regarding filmmaking.
At the end of this fellowship, the best 10 participants will become the first batch of fellows of Izhar by Film Fellowship, who will ultimately be contesting to take the top 3 positions and win scholarship grants. The best films will also be screened at a national-level event in the capital later this year.
