Drama serial ‘Kashf’ tells the story of a girl ‘Kashf’ (Hira Mani) who is gifted with a strange ability to foresee occurrences. She can sense the approaching danger and peer vaguely into the future. She is the eldest amongst her sisters; she is a doting daughter of an arrogant father who dreams of becoming rich without doing anything. She is genuinely in love with her cousin and neighbor, Wajdaan (Junaid Khan). In a series of unpredictable events, her dreams turn out into realities proving to be a curse for some and a miracle for others.
Storyline of drama serial Kashf
In a premise that revolves around the female protagonist, Junaid Khan manages to hold his ground as the boy next door. I wondered what prompted the actor to share screen space with Hira, who has a meatier role and enacts the central character but walks his path throughout the play. Over the years, he has been extremely versatile in his diverse selection of plays and adds another feather in his cap with this one. He fits into the character like a fish takes to water. He believes in Kashf’s dreams when no one does. His innocence and childlike behavior in situations where he is seen rooting for her at the rooftop meetings is commendable. He is in good form and portrays emotions like anger, discipline, wit, effort, and disappointment with an unusual naturalness.
There are some actors whom you admire for their talent. Some leave you charmed by their good-looks. Some floor you with their off-screen persona. But rarely do you come across someone who ticks all the boxes. Junaid Khan is one such. The actor has made a career out of accepting brave, unusual, and relevant subjects. An actor with a rare combination of mass and critical appeal, Khan, has always added newer shades with authentic dimensions to emerge out on screen in whatever character he portrays.
Kashf comes across as a well-crafted thriller that meets expectations. It has a universal theme, terrific mass appeal, and its share of captivating moments with a well-told tale of romance. It gracefully unknots the trials, tribulations, fears, and hopes of people. It would be interesting to see the twist and turns in the upcoming episodes.
