The dramatist was kidnapped and tortured in Lahore. The Lahore police, led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Imran Kishwar, successfully busted a 12-member gang, including the prime female suspect, identified as Amna Urooj. During a press conference with Qamar, the DIG detailed the gang’s modus operandi and their criminal activities over the past two years.
The Gang’s Modus Operandi
The gang, which had been trapping high-profile individuals, used Amna Urooj to lure Qamar under the pretense of a drama production project. Once Qamar arrived at the specified location, he was detained, beaten, and robbed of his mobile phone, cash, ATM card, and other belongings. The kidnappers then blindfolded him and took him to an unknown location, demanding Rs 10 million for his release. When the demand was not met, they abandoned him at Nankana Sahib.
Police Action and Recovery
The Lahore police acted swiftly, recovering Qamar’s mobile phone data, which had been deleted by the suspects in an attempt to avoid capture. The data recovery led to the arrest of Amna Urooj and subsequently the entire gang. The police also recovered weapons, including Kalashnikovs, SMGs, pistols, and wireless sets, from the gang’s possession.

In his police report, Qamar recounted the harrowing experience, stating that he was blindfolded and taken to an unknown location where the suspects demanded an additional Rs 10 million for his release.
