Mashesh Bhatt and his daughter Phoja Bhatt are visiting Karachi these days for NAPA International Theatre Festival 2015. We have previously seen the director’s support for Indo-Pak relations and he has been to Pakistan several times to promote the same.
This time the duo is in Karachi for ‘Mahesh Bhatt presents “Daddy” – A theatrical adaptation of Mahesh Bhatt’s classic film ‘Daddy’ on 30th, 31st March and 1st April at 08:00PM in #ITF15.
The festival is being organised by NAPA Repertory Theatre Play. Besides “Daddy”, the other two Indian plays that are supposed to be staged at the festival are “Kasomal Sapno” and “Tum Kaun”, which is an Indo-Pak collaboration.
The festival was first staged in 2012 as the NAPA Performing Arts Festival and has since grown to become a national and then an International Theatre Festival. This will be the fourth edition of the festival in March 2015. The festival is envisaged not only as an opportunity for theatre-persons and the citizens of Karachi to see some great theatre but also as meeting point for international artists to collaborate with and work creatively with artists from Pakistan. The festival hopes to introduce a world of theatre to the people of Karachi. It is hoped that the plays and artists that the festival brings to Karachi will inspire theatre persons to create new and exciting theatre.
