Meezan Bank customers can now add their debit cards to Google Wallet Pakistan, starting today. This marks a major advancement in Pakistan’s digital payment sector. The feature allows users to make secure, contactless payments using their Android smartphones and Wear OS devices.

In a recent visit to Meezan Bank’s headquarters, key figures such as Mr. Chen Way Siew, Google Inc.’s Financial Institutions, Networks & Transit Partnerships Lead, Mr. Abdul Basit, Director of Digital Payments at Thales, Mr. Arslan Khan, Country Manager at Mastercard Pakistan, and Mr. Umar Khan, Country Manager at VISA, met with Meezan Bank’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Syed Amir Ali, and the senior leadership team to discuss the future of digital payments in the country.
This new integration allows Meezan Bank customers to link their Meezan Visa and Mastercard Debit Cards to the Google Wallet app. This enables them to make payments easily, both in stores and online, including in-app transactions. The move eliminates the need for carrying physical cards. It also enhances the user experience by adding features such as peer-to-peer transfers, bill payments, in-app purchases, and contactless payments, along with real-time transaction tracking.
Google Wallet uses advanced security mechanisms like tokenization, which substitutes sensitive data with a unique digital identifier, minimizing fraud risks. Users can authenticate transactions with their device’s fingerprint, PIN, or pattern, ensuring a smooth, secure payment process.
