The concept of Watta Satta involves the simultaneous marriage of a brother-sister pair from two households. In some cases, it involves uncle-niece pairs, or cousin pairs.

In the family, the characters played by Ali and myself, we like each other. The father, because he wants to make his family financially secure, insists that we marry through ‘watta satta’ [bride exchange]. It’s more of a household story and hopefully there will be things about the story that the audience can resonate with”.
