According to sources on Saturday, Pakistan’s cricket team faces a significant setback as their prominent fast bowler, Naseem Shah, may miss the entire ICC World Cup 2023 due to a severe right shoulder injury.
ESPNcricinfo reported that scans revealed the injury to be more severe than initially thought, potentially sidelining Naseem for the rest of the year.
The PCB is considering a second opinion, but if confirmed, this injury could jeopardize his participation in the upcoming Test series in Australia and the next Pakistan Super League.
Zaman Khan, who replaced Naseem Shah in Pakistan’s Asia Cup squad, might be called up for the World Cup if necessary.
Naseem Shah sustained this injury during Pakistan’s second game against India at the Asia Cup, forcing him to leave the field in the 46th over on the reserve day of that match.
Subsequently, the PCB announced his withdrawal from the remainder of the tournament.
Team Pakistan relies on his presence, and we extend our hopes and prayers for his swift recovery so that he can participate in the Cricket World Cup 2023.
