Known as the ‘Queen of Pop,’ Nazia’s contributions to music remain unmatched, and fans around the world have taken to media platforms to pay heartfelt tributes to this iconic artist.

Nazia Hassan was born on April 3, 1965, in Karachi, and although her life was tragically short, spanning just 35 years, she achieved unparalleled success and left a lasting impact on the global music scene. Her journey in the world of music began at an early age when she appeared on various television shows on PTV as a child artist in the late 1970s.

Her big break came at the age of fifteen when she provided the lead vocals for the song “Aap Jaisa Koi” from the 1980 Bollywood film Qurbani. The song became an instant hit, and Nazia’s mesmerizing voice earned her the prestigious Filmfare Award in 1981, making her the first Pakistani playback singer to win this honor.

Following the success of “Aap Jaisa Koi,” Nazia Hassan released her debut album Disco Deewane in 1981, which was a groundbreaking success. The album topped charts in 14 countries and established her as a pop sensation. Her unique style and fresh sound brought a new wave of music to South Asia, blending Eastern and Western musical influences in a way that had never been done before.

In 1988, Nazia and her brother Zoheb Hassan collaborated with music expert Sohail Rana on his television program Sung Sung. This was followed by their hosting of the show Music ’89, which further cemented their status as pioneers of the pop music genre in Pakistan. In the same year, Nazia also hosted the popular show Dhanak on PTV, showcasing her versatility and charm as a television host.
