The man who used to generate tons and heaps of runs in an extravagant style, and the one who hit the most popular six of the century, is the man who is considered as the best batsman Pakistan can ever produce, the pride of Pakistan, Javed Miandad.
Born on 12 June 1957, just before Pakistan’s tenth birthday, Javed had the in-born raw talent of a sportsman in his veins and why wouldn’t be? After all, his family already boasted a number of star studded names in cricket. The legacy then proved to be true as later he set the record as the youngest batsman to score a century and also that in a debut match!
It was due to his budding talent that after watching him in 1970’s, Pakistan’s first test captain; Abdul Hafeez Kardar regarded him with the title “The Find of the Decade”. After that there wasn’t a stopping point for him! Whether it is the glorious six at the last ball in Sharjah or the helping hand to set up a winning score in the finals of 1992 Worldcup, Javed Miandad never disappointed his country or people! Miandad was considered as a reliability, whenever Pakistan was about to lose a match, he would always carried his team out of the storms of a complete and imposing defeat.
So, in an interesting gesture of paying tribute to his such huge and laudable contributions, a newly launched show “The Sportsman”, hosted by Wasim Akram, will telecast Javed Miandad’s interview in its 2nd episode on Sunday 4th of September at 10 pm on Geo. We bet you surely don’t want to miss it!
