The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has requested arguments regarding the appeals for an early hearing in the Nikah-Iddat case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder and his spouse, Bushra Bibi. The appeals, which challenge their convictions and seek suspension of their sentences, are scheduled for June 7.
The case was heard by Additional District and Session Judge Afzal Majoka. Bushra Bibi’s lawyer, Salman Safdar Advocate, filed an application requesting an expedited hearing. During the petition hearing, Advocate Salman Safdar mentioned that he had been presenting arguments since February.
The court noted that the case file was received the previous day and mentioned that they had scheduled hearings five times, yet no one had appeared before the court. Consequently, the court has set the next hearing date for June 25. However, the court accepted Bushra Bibi’s appeal and adjourned the case until June 7.
This development marks a significant moment in the ongoing legal proceedings involving prominent political figures in Pakistan.
