In a significant move, the Pakistani government has announced a reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel for the last fifteen days of June. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the price of petrol has been slashed by Rs 10.20 per litre, while the price of diesel has been reduced by Rs 2.44 per litre.
Traditionally, adjustments to the prices of petroleum products are announced on the 15th and the last day of each month. However, this latest announcement was made a day earlier than the scheduled June 15 revision.
The Prime Minister’s Office highlighted that earlier in the month, on June 1, the price of petrol had already been reduced by Rs 4.74 per litre. This continued effort to reduce fuel prices is part of a broader strategy to support the economy and alleviate the financial burden on citizens.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also focused on boosting industry and exports. He recently announced a reduction in electricity prices for industrial sectors by Rs 10.69 per unit, setting the new rate at Rs 34.99 per unit. This initiative is expected to enhance industrial productivity and promote export growth, further stabilizing the country’s economy.
The government’s proactive measures in adjusting fuel and electricity prices underscore its commitment to economic growth and support for both consumers and the industrial sector.
