Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again recommended the people of Pakistan to watch yet another Turkish drama series Yunus Emre for all those who are interested in Sufism.
In a recent Tweet, the Prime Minister mentioned , “I strongly recommend the serial Yunus Emre being shown on PTV for all those who are interested in Sufism (Marayfat).”
Turkish Series Yunus Emre
The show, based on the life of an Islamic poet, has been retitled as Raah-e-Ishq in Urdu for the Pakistani audience. It orbits around the life of Yunus Emre, the 13th century Anatolian Sufi poet, who greatly influenced Anatolian culture.
Earlier, PTI senator Faisal Javed Khan said that another Mehmet Bozdağ directorial, Yunus Emre will be aired soon on state-run TV. He further shared some insight about the drama. “Yunus Emre (the Dervish) was an Islamic poet, a mystic & a poor villager,” he said.
Moreover, he added that this Turkish soap is another hit and it is created by Mehmet Bozdag, he further adds that it is a journey of transformation. Linking up the same he tweet, he further added that, “Yunus Emre was well versed in mystical philosophy, especially that of the 13th-century poet and mystic Jalaluddin Rumi.” In addition, he said, “The serial is a great example of meticulous attention to detail.”
The premier earlier recommended Diriliş: Ertuğrul, which broke several records in Pakistan. PTV obtained the broadcast rights of the drama from the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).

The tv series came on-air on TRT 1, which is the first Turkish national TV network. Also, it came on screens on June 18, 2015. The series rings around Yunus, who was a 4th century Anatolian Sufi poet. He immensely influenced the Anatolian culture.
Who was Yunus Emre?
With due respect, Yunus Emre was also known as Derviş Yunus, which means Yunus the Dervish. He was born in 1238 and died in 1320. Also, he was a Turkish folk poet and Sufi mystic. Moreover, he was very much influenced by Turkish culture. Also, at an early stage of modern Turkish, he wrote in the Old Anatolian Turkish language. Furthermore, at the 750th anniversary of the poet’s birth, the UNESCO General Conference passed a resolution and declared 1991 as “The International Yunus Emre Year”.
Plot:
The plot of the TV series is showing the 14th century culture and living. The Anatolia, as Mongol invasions are getting recurrent, also, the Emre travels to Nallihan. In Nallihan he establishes himself as Seldjuk official. Moreover, after joining the dervish monastery that is the Taptuk Emre’s dergâh. Furthermore, in the story, the Emre continues his journey of becoming the dervish.
