This time two cities Karachi and Lahore have been selected for the Pakistan Super League opening match of the 34 matches to be played in PSL-6.

Last year PSL-5 was played in four cities of the country Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan. Since the inception of the PSL, the tournament has been played on Pakistani soil along with Pakistan’s second home, the United Arab Emirates.

It is worth mentioning here that the foreign players including Darren Sammy and English cricketer Ravi Bopara become fans of the newly kits of Zalmi highlighting culture cricket by portraying a soft image of Peshawar besides introducing cultural heritage. “I have never seen such a beautiful kit in leagues,” English cricketer Ravi Bopara said. Peshawar Zalmi’s new cultural cricket is very popular,” Darren Sammy was quoted as saying.

The spokesman of the Zalmi Abdul Ghaffar when contacted said Imam-ul-Haq and other Zalmi players were so fascinated about the new kits, a brain-child of Chairman Zalmi Javed Afridi. “It also fascinates me the most and Peshawar Zalmi always introduced new things to the League as I like my kit,” Imam-ul-Haq said. “I got a lot of messages on WhatsApp for this cultural cricket,” Imam-ul-Haq.

“This kit has highlighted the culture and beauty of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan and I loved that,” Umaid Asif said. Zalmai launches special cultural cricket to highlight the culture and beauty of Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Zalmi player kits carrying pictures of Islamia College, Markhor, historical Ghantaghar Clock Tower, Khyber Pass, and Malam Jabba, Abdul Ghaffar informed.

Earlier, In 2018 PSL, three matches, including the final, were played at the National Stadium Karachi. In 2019, eight matches of Pakistan Super League were hosted by National Stadium in Karachi which included the final. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani had announced during his visit to Peshawar that in 2020 Pakistan Super League matches will also be held in Peshawar but due to unavailability of the international cricket venues, this time Peshawar could not make it to the PSL and hopefully in the days to come Peshawar would be one venue.

Both the venues of international standard would be ready for PSL matches in 2022. Earlier, the same PSL took a start in Pakistan’s home venue UAE because of the security purpose of the participating foreign players.

Each franchise was allowed to add a maximum of 20 players to the squad. Each team had the right to include six foreign cricketers. The matches of the event were held in Sharjah and Dubai. Islamabad United won the Pakistan Super League in 2016 and 2018. The 2017 title went to Peshawar Zalmi. In 2019, Quetta Gladiators won the PSL award while the 2020 champion was Karachi Kings.
