The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a significant bearish trend on Wednesday, with the 100-index falling by 681.19 points. This marks a 0.90% decline, bringing the index to a close at 74,836.30 points from the previous day’s 75,517.49 points.
The trading session saw a total of 408,073,662 shares valued at Rs 16.500 billion change hands, compared to 446,071,483 shares worth Rs 16.406 billion traded the day before.
Out of 405 companies that traded shares, 85 recorded gains, 277 sustained losses, and 43 remained unchanged.
The top three trading companies were:
- K-Electric Limited: 38,647,880 shares at Rs 4.91 per share
- WorldCall Telecom: 22,383,107 shares at Rs 1.34 per share
- Dewan Motors: 19,354,593 shares at Rs 41.42 per share
On the other hand, PIA Holding Company Limited saw the maximum increase in share price, rising by Rs 60.83 to close at Rs 889.25. Services Industries Limited followed with a Rs 43.83 rise, closing at Rs 918.63 per share.
Conversely, Hoechst Pakistan Limited witnessed the most significant decrease, dropping by Rs 113.80 to close at Rs 1,358.70 per share, followed by Hallmark Company Limited, which saw a decline of Rs 45.27, ending the day at Rs 534.26.
