Raaz-e-Ulfat has remained one of GEO TV’s most widely watched drama serials ever since it aired its first episode earlier this year. Produced under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, the show began as a college romance, where our central female characters were first introduced. The drama depicted the lives of different classes of people that can we come across in such places i.e. colleges, and work places.
Right from the word go, Raaz-e-Ulfat has been a chockablock of interesting developments that managed to grab the attention of its loyal audience. Every now and then, we come across an unnerving moment that makes our jaws drop.
The story revolves around Mushk, a young, studious, girl who belongs to the middle class and has a strict father who has always established certain rules in the house. Mushk attends a private university where she’s befriended by Sehba, a rich, spoiled, young girl who lives in the posh area of the city. Sehba’s family friend Irtiza, a rich businessman, who falls for Mushk, and her simplicity. In the beginning, Sehba is in a relationship with Nomi, a guy from her social circle, who studies with her. Then there’s Ismail, a family man whose wife is terminally ill.
As the story moves forward, Sehba makes Mushk meet Irtiza on his insistence. As time passes by, Mushk and Irtiza fall in love with each other. Sehba on the other hand, leaves Nomi after she finds out he hasn’t been sincere with her. She directs her attention towards Irtiza, who she realizes is a better match for her. She begins to hatch plans that can erect a wall between Irtiza and Mushk. Just when the two of them are about to get married, Sehba creates situations because of which the marriage is called off. In the midst of it all, Mush, and her family are left embarrassed.
As a result, Mushk’s family gets her married to Ismail, who is now a grieving widower, but is respectful and considerate towards her. Eventually, the two of them develop an understanding and respect for one another.
Sehba’s plans have yielded fruit, and she’s about to get married to Irtiza. Though, Irtiza on their wedding day finally finds out what Sehba had been up to all this time, which leads to both of them falling apart.
The drama deals with the themes of jealousy, greed, and the cost of having ill intentions towards others. It talks about how people can never be happy, and hearts can never be at peace if they hurt others, and bring them harm.
The show also deals with social issues, i.e. the class system that creates a divide in our society. It portrays the lifestyles, and ways of the different classes of our society. The credit for the show’s success should go to the genius of the dynamic duo Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi who have always delivered wholesome, and quality entertainment to the audiences.
We can’t wait to see what happens in the upcoming episodes as the show nears towards its end. Raaz-e-Ulfat airs on Tuesdays on Geo TV.
