The 2015 Vans U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California, U.S. will be held from July 25th to August 2nd, 2015. In partnership with WSL (World Surf league), Samsung has identified a number of areas where innovation and technology could improve surfers’ performance and get fans more connected to the sport they love.
With the specially developed water resistant casing for Samsung Gear S and application for WSL and surfers, surfers are able to recognize priority signs so they can catch the best waves at the best times, are provided easy access to their individual scores after each wave during the competition, and can track remaining time in their heats.
During the event, Samsung held Galaxy Studio at the Beach in Huntington Beach, and gave fans product experiences such as Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and Gear VR Innovator Edition. Samsung also developed special surf content for Gear VR so fans who visit the Galaxy Studio are experiencing the ride of their lives by wearing the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition and standing on a moving surfboard to feel first-hand what it’s like to ride waves.
Samsung Galaxy surfer Malia Manuel interacted with media and fans at the Galaxy Studio and shared her passionate thoughts for how Samsung is helping to improve the sport of surfing through breakthrough innovation.
