The Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) has made significant strides in improving the arrival process for pilgrims this year by employing advanced data and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to enhance the technical infrastructure at 14 air, sea, and land ports across the Kingdom.
Streamlined Arrival Process
SDAIA leveraged AI to bolster its data analysis and anticipatory capabilities, collaborating closely with government agencies to ensure reliable communication circuits. This includes both core and backup systems, guaranteeing uninterrupted service at ports crucial for the Hajj season.
Dedicated Technical Team
To ensure smooth operations, SDAIA assembled a dedicated national technical team specifically for the Hajj season. This team operates at key locations such as King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah Islamic Port, Taif Airport, and others across the Kingdom.
Strategic Investments
These initiatives have received continuous support from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the SDAIA Board of Directors. The objective is to optimize data and AI technologies, particularly for the benefit of pilgrims, aligning with the goals of Vision 2030.
Tech Enhancements
SDAIA has provided new systems, services, and tools to improve efficiency at the Kingdom’s border crossings, sorting centers, and security control centers. This includes setting up a special tech support room for handling issues faced by different organizations involved in Hajj, equipped with mobile tech kits for on-the-spot fixes.
Innovations for Hajj
For this year’s Hajj, SDAIA has ensured all workstations and network equipment in Hajj halls at ports are up-to-date through preventive maintenance. Biometric scanners have been installed at border crossings, with SDAIA setting up devices, installing approved software, and training Hajj personnel accordingly.
Mobile Solutions
SDAIA introduced “Banan,” a mobile device using biometric data to identify people on-site, perfect for field workers managing large groups during Hajj. Additionally, the Sawaher and Baseer platforms help manage crowd sizes effectively at various Hajj sites, ensuring a safer and smoother experience for pilgrims.
Integration with Tawakkalna App
Many pilgrim services have been integrated into the Tawakkalna app, allowing pilgrims to manage procedures at Manasik Gates, display pilgrim cards, and manage entry permits for vehicles and personnel working on Hajj in collaboration with Public Security.
SDAIA continues to roll out innovative tech solutions to improve the Hajj experience, demonstrating its commitment to leveraging technology for the benefit of pilgrims and the Kingdom.
