Salman Khan’s much-anticipated action-thriller Sikandar had high expectations but fell short on its opening day at the box office. The Sikandar box office loss significantly impacted the film’s earnings. Released on Sunday, March 30, during Eid, the film earned Rs 26 crore, falling behind the expected figures.
Despite the pre-release buzz, it couldn’t surpass Chhaava‘s Rs 31 crore or Tiger Zinda Hai‘s Rs 33 crore on day one.
The leak, surfacing just before the film’s release, added to the disappointment. It affected Sikandar‘s box office collection, and the film now faces an uphill battle to recover.
Trade analysts were left stunned by the movie’s performance, with occupancy for the primary Hindi version barely touching 23.47%. Despite being marketed as a grand Eid treat for Salman’s fans, the film underperformed compared to other recent releases, causing shockwaves in the film industry.
To make matters worse, just hours before its official release, Sikandar was leaked online in HD quality. The leak was a huge blow to the makers. The trade analyst Komal Nahta described it as a producer’s worst nightmare.
He tweeted, “A film is being leaked before its theatrical release. Sajid Nadiadwala’s Sikandar had to be pulled from 600 sites, but the damage had already been done.”
Produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Salman Khan Films. Sikandar features an action-packed plot with a star-studded cast, including Anjini Dhawan, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, and Sharman Joshi.
Despite the Sikandar box office loss, the makers are hoping that the film will pick up momentum in the coming days. But for now, Sikandar’s opening remains a bitter pill to swallow for both fans and filmmakers alike.
