Eid Expected on March 31, 2025
Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on Monday, March 31, 2025, according to the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council. Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the council’s Secretary General, explained that the Shawwal moon is likely to be visible on Sunday, March 30, depending on weather conditions.
Astronomical Predictions for Moon Sighting
Astronomical data suggests that the new moon will form on March 29 at 3:58 PM Pakistan time. By sunset on March 30, the moon will be more than 26 hours old, making it easier to spot.
Mufti further clarified that the moon must be at least 18 hours old. And there must be a sunset-to-moonset gap of at least 40 minutes for it to be visible. These conditions are expected to be met in several parts of Pakistan, allowing the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
