A new report from the International Data Corporation (IDC) proposes that Smartphone profits might slow down over the next four years, even though the sales will continue to grow. The study by IDC predicts about how things can shakeup in the Smartphone market.
Talking about operating system war between Apple and Google, things will not change much, at least according to IDC. Android is expected to lead with 80 percent of the market, and 60 percent of profits in 2018, while Apple will own 13 percent of shipments and 34 percent of the profits.
The report adds that it is unlikely and difficult that any new operating system can truly compete without an attraction out of the world, although it believes that the Windows operating system for Microsoft can jump from 2.7 percent to 5.6 percent of the Smartphone market by 2018.
Smartphone growth is expected to slow down a bit in the coming years. However 2014 Mobile Shipments should hit a total of 1.3 billion units for 2014, an increase of 26.3-percent compared to the previous year before growing another 12.2-percent to 1.4 million units predicted to be shipped in 2015.
Predicting about 2018 smart phone shipments will hit 1.9 billion units, with an annual growth rate of 9.8-percent. Prices will continue to drop as companies will compete to offer the best Smartphone deal.
