SSGC Announces Gas Load-Shedding Schedule for Ramadan 2025

With Ramadan 2025 approaching, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has released its official SSGC Ramadan gas schedule for the holy month. The company aims to ensure uninterrupted gas availability for Sehri and Iftar preparations, while also managing the growing demand-supply gap caused by declining gas reserves.

Gas Load-Shedding Timings for Ramadan 2025

As per the SSGC Ramadan gas schedule announcement, the gas supply will be suspended during the following hours:

  • 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Daytime)
  • 10:00 PM to 3:00 AM (Nighttime)

Gas will remain available during key meal preparation times:

  • 3:00 AM to 9:00 AM (Sehri)
  • 3:30 PM to 10:00 PM (Iftar)

SSGC has assured that these timings are designed to facilitate the public during fasting hours, ensuring smooth cooking preparations for Roza 2025.

Pakistan’s Gas Crisis & Future Plans

SSGC has also warned that Pakistan’s natural gas reserves are declining by 8-10% annually, with a projected 50% reduction in gas reserves by 2027. To address this crisis, the company is working on biogas, nitrogen gas production, and coal-based gas generation as alternative energy solutions.

Ramadan 2025: Moon Sighting & Start Dates

Meanwhile, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SPARCO) has provided an update on the Ramadan moon sighting in Pakistan. According to their statement:

  • The new moon will occur on February 28, 2025, at 5:45 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
  • Due to the low altitude (5 degrees) and short sun-moon distance (7 degrees). The crescent will not be visible to the human eye on February 28th in Pakistan.
  • Based on these astronomical calculations, Ramadan in Pakistan is expected to begin on March 2, 2025 (Sunday).

However, the Ramadan moon may be sighted in Saudi Arabia on February 28th, leading to the likely start of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia on March 1, 2025 (Saturday).

Ramadan Mubarak in Advance!

As we approach the first Ramadan 2025, Muslims around the world prepare for a month of fasting and prayers. With Saudi Arabia and Pakistan likely beginning Ramadan on different dates, we wish everyone a blessed and peaceful Ramadan.

Stay tuned for further updates on the Ramadan 2025 moon sighting, official confirmations, and Eid ul-Fitr 2025 dates.
