Sunny Deol returns to the big screen with his latest action-packed film, Jaat, alongside Randeep Hooda. The movie has received a strong opening, earning Rs 9.5 crore (India net, early estimates) on its first day of release, which occurred on April 10, 2025. According to Sacnilk.com, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 12.89% on its opening day, showcasing its wide reach in theaters.
Jaat builds on the success of Gadar 2, as Sunny Deol once again attracts large audiences. The film features a compelling cast, including Randeep Hooda, who plays the villain, adding a new dynamic to the film. Other notable cast members include Ayesha Khan, Saiyami Kher, Zarina Wahab, and more. Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad, Naveen Yerneni, and Y. Ravi Shankar, Jaat brings action, drama, and entertainment to the screens.
News18 Showsha rated the film 3 out of 5 stars, calling it a “pure masala entertainer.” A particular highlight from the movie comes when Sunny Deol delivers the iconic line, “Iss dhai kilo ke haath ki taakat, poora north dekh chuka hai, ab South dekhega,” followed by a memorable moment where his character uses his powerful hand to stop a speeding car. Randeep Hooda’s performance as the villain also stands out, with the review praising him for his fierce and menacing portrayal. However, the second half of the movie received some criticism, with the review mentioning that the writers appeared to have run out of plot ideas and focused heavily on stunts, making the second half drag a bit.
In terms of digital release, Jaat is set to stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. While an official confirmation is pending, it is expected that the film will arrive on the platform by the end of May or early June, becoming available to audiences globally.
With strong numbers on Day 1 and growing word-of-mouth, Jaat seems poised for a successful run at the box office, attracting fans of action-packed masala films and Sunny Deol’s iconic performances.
