Surkh Chandani was a valiant effort to recognize the struggle of women who go through the most disturbing act against humanity, Acid Attacks. The show aired on Ary Digital and starred Sohai Ali Abroo, Osman Khalid Butt and Asad Siddiqui in the lead roles. It was produced under the banner of Big Bang Entertainment. The show was well written and well-executed. Here’s our review of the show and its last episode.
The Story
The show narrates the story of Aida (Sohai Ali Abroo) who is an acid attack survivor. She makes the grave mistake of saying no to a psychopath and reacting to it he throws acid at her on the day of her Nikkah. As a result, what was supposed to be a day full of Happy beginnings turns into a day of a great tragedy. She is rushed to the hospital and survives the attack but the right side of her face is scarred. Through all this, she finds constant support from her fiance and later on husband Amaan (Osman Khalid Butt). Asad Siddiqui is the perpetrator of the show.
Did The Ending Do Justice to The Serial?
The show itself touched a very serious subject, hence it had a somber tone to it, understandably. We saw the characters grow and all performances were given true to their characters. The end was justified and we saw the two main antagonists getting what they deserved. Shumaila met an untimely death but not before she helped Aida get justice. Jawad had to face the dire consequences of his actions and was sentenced. He was a true example of men who grow up entitled and develop a narcissistic personality. In some parts, the story did move a little slow but the ending was totally worth the wait!
Acid attack survivors are the victims of a grave crime against mankind and we are glad that Surkh Chandani is a show that boosts their morale and tells them that life can and should move on after this inhumane act. Our heart goes out to Aida and all those like her.
