After the flawless execution of the first day of Telenor Fashion Weekend, the concluding day started with a bang. Celebrities, fashionistas and fashion enthusiast walked the red carpet and took pictures. The main highlight of the red carpet area was the beautifully set-up Jeet Ka Dum lounge, where they took selfies with props and danced with friends on the acrylic floor.
Day 2 of the fashion extravaganza started with Outfitters Spring/Summer 2015 collection titled “Castaway”. The collection was based on rugged and ripped denim with heavy washes and hyper tropical trends, encapsulating the summer mood with patterns of oceanic creatures, sea birds, floral pattern and colour-blocking. Bight tropical Hawaiian prints and indigo-dyed techniques were used in their collection.
Next to showcase was the famous retail brand Urban Culture. Their collection was a roundup of a representation of military trend which is a permanent part of all histories. Bringing together military attributes to an easily accessible fashion urban culture they presented a collection of strong blending military colours and camouflage prints to combat boots, contributing to a powerful style statement.
Titling their collection “Spring Garden”, the apparel store Harmony featured a collection of floral patterns, latest silhouettes, cuts, and unique hues. The use of colour combination and structured tailoring were appreciated by the audiences.
After this well-balanced collection, Forestblu presented their “Hipster” collection. Hipster was about latest trends, different fabric techniques and included prints and stylish cuts.
Day 2 of the fashion extravaganza also had presentation from PIFD. Sponsored by Telenor Karo Mumkin, PIFD presented collections of their four graduates. The fist presentation of the graduate show was showcased by Asrar Yaqoob. His collection titled “The Art of Camel Decoration” was inspired by the art created by nomads of Cholistan on camel skin by carving hair. The thesis also provided a conceptual view of a nomad’s lifestyle, which was reflected by the useof a nomad’s life style was reflected in this collection by using laser cut on leather, dark floral and geometrical patterns.
The second showcase of the PIFD graduate show was presented by Harris Masood. His project titled “Dear Dorothy” aimed at highlighting the evolution that is very keenly observed amongst the pop culture icons of the 21st century. The thesis provided a symbolic makeover to the fictional character of Dorothy Gale, the original heroine of pop culture from the 1939 blockbuster cinematic adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’. The collection unfolded in the form of letters written to Dorothy from the 21st century advising her about how she would have to change in order to keep up with the rat race that is the modern day world of fame and fortune.
Next to showcase was Momal Zia. Her collection “Being Incomplete – Isolation of Nepal’s Honey Hunter” explored the rawness and aesthetics of the nature of Nepal honey hunter’s life style. The intention was to design problem solving experimental prêt collection that represented the rawness and isolation of hunter’s life.
The last showcase of PIFD graduate show was presented by Hassan Riaz. His collection titled “Affrontement Avec L’ Agony” implied the influence of personal occurrence on human nature. The collection presented a novel perspective on human emotions of agony. Majorly the colours included hunted phthalo blue and vandyke raw (shade of camel brown) which demonstrated a well-balanced blend of soreness, the personal confrontation and nautical symbols for designs and patterns.
After the PIFD graduate show, TONI&GUY North Pakistan presented their hair & makeup show featuring Fahad Hussayn, HSY, Republic by Omer Farooq, Republic Women’s wear, Sublime by Sara. Inspired by grungy street- and edge-driven styles, TONI&GUY North Pakistan presented a hair and makeup trends show that encapsulated the philosophy of continuous change, emphasizing on creativity, individuality and personal evolution. Playing around predominantly with texture, TONI&GUY North Pakistan recreated braids and ponytails and accessorized hair in an avant-garde fashion with metallic elements, taking inspiration from international catwalks for some of the looks. With movement comes experience and maturity, hence sleek and sports-luxe styles were also incorporated in this vibrant and pulsating showcase.
Next to showcase was Raj At Yas. Their collection was all about providing the clients with trendy yet wearable pieces for both women and menswear. They combined industrial embroideries with quality yet light weight fabrics and had included digital prints incorporated with embroidery and other edgy details. Their focus was to give a new and improved look to the brand by coming up with a collection that is chic yet trendy, keeping in mind, both men and women of the modern day.
Last collection of the concluding day of Telenor Fashion Weekend 2015 was presented by Pareesa By ChenOne. Their collection celebrated a culture of robust colours and delicate designs, from the hand woven fabrics of remote villages, to the palatial abodes of Mughal emperors. Pareesa By ChenOne captured the elegance, style and sophistication of these ancient arts and incorporated them in every thread.
Telenor Fashion Weekend is driven by ChenOne and choreographed by the designer and choreographer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin with Hair & Makeup by TONI&GUY [NORTH PAKISTAN]. Aamir and Muneera @ Production 021 are the official backstage managers. PR of Telenor Fashion Weekend is handled by the in-house PR team of HUM Network while photography is done by HUM Netrowk’s in-house photographers M. Haris Usmani and Ahsan Qureshy. FM 106.2 is the official radio partner of the event. The featured shows will be aired under Style360 presentation, which has developed into the prime source of fashion and lifestyle for television audiences in Pakistan and is the perfect platform that provides designers the eyeballs and the reach both locally and internationally.
