The Pakistan Embassy, Ankara, along with Consulate General of Pakistan, Istanbul successfully repatriated 194 stranded Pakistani nationals from Istanbul International Airport to Pakistan.
These stranded Pakistani nationals included tourists who came to Turkey on short-term visa & couldn’t return owing to flight disruptions, as well as those 22 Pakistani nationals who were stuck in transit lounge of Turkish airports when Pakistan’s airspace closed on the evening of 21.3.2020.
The Embassy & the Consulate General took utmost care of these Pakistanis during their stay in Turkey (including provision of food, accommodation & medicines to many of them), as well as during their repatriation to Pakistan.
We are very grateful to Turkish authorities/departments for their constant support & cooperation throughout the process. Turkish authorities took utmost care & facilitated all stranded Pakistanis, particularly those quarantined at facility at Bolu. Long live Pak Turkey Friendship. Pakistani Authorities.
A 24/7 Emergency helpline has also been established for Citizens of Pakistan living in Turkey, as well as those living in Kosovo, North Macedonia and North Cyprus.
