In a tragic turn of events, a young TikToker was shot dead by a private security guard near Sarina Mobile Market in Karachi’s North Nazimabad area on Tuesday evening. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Saad Ahmed, was making a TikTok video opposite the market when the incident occurred.
Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi reported that the security guard, Ahmed Gul, became infuriated when Saad pointed a microphone towards him while recording the video. Gul, armed with a Kalashnikov rifle, reacted violently by firing at Saad. Despite efforts to save him, Saad succumbed to his critical injuries en route to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Eyewitness accounts and police reports indicate that Saad, who also had a YouTube channel under the name “Gaaliyan dena munasib nahi hai,” was filming content for his social media platforms when the confrontation happened. The security guard admitted to the shooting, stating, “He kept putting the mic in my face and was recording a video of me. I got angry and shot him,” and further arrogantly confirmed, “Yes, I shot him.”
The Taimuria police quickly apprehended the guard, who is now in custody, facing charges for his actions. The incident has sparked widespread shock and condemnation, highlighting the potential dangers social media influencers face while creating content in public spaces.
Saad Ahmed, the son of Mukhtar Ahmed, is mourned by family, friends, and followers who are left grappling with the sudden loss of a young life cut short by senseless violence.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of understanding and addressing the risks associated with public interactions, particularly in volatile environments.
