With pitch perfect vocals and mesmerizing visuals “Ho Jao Azaad” has all the right ingredients to keep viewers engaged in the 4 min track.
Starting off as a background vocalist in coke studios, Zoe Viccaji has made it big in the budding music industry of Pakistan and “Ho Jao Azaad” is a great milestone in her uphill journey.
The title of this single is slightly misleading, and with the release date lying near Independence Day, fans were confident that “Ho Jao Azaad” was a patriotic anthem paying tribute to Pakistan’s diversity. Surprisingly, it turns out that the song has nothing to do with celebrating national freedom.
“Ho Jao Azaad” holds a more in-depth message for the rising fan following of the young artist, and calls for the independence/ Azaadi of one’s own soul – For individuals to gain freedom from the chains of society and the shackles of their own doubts and fears.

Abdullah Haroon’s gripping lyrics accompanied by Viccaji’s spirited voice, attempt to kindle the liberating feeling of freedom in the most simplistic way possible:
“Fizaaon ki raah mein,
Sitaaron ki chah mein,
Jeene ki aah mein,
Ho jao azad”
Yet the best feature of this song is not its lyrics nor the music, but the breathtaking visuals of Pakistan! Shot in the northern regions of the country, viewers are left amazed and awe struck by the natural beauty of Pakistan.
Even Zoe couldn’t contain her admiration!

In an interview, Viccaji revealed that the shoot for the music video was very demanding. She and the whole crew were constantly moving from one location to the next, in hope of capturing all the beautiful location in Gilgit Baltistan.
The music video for “Ho Jao Azaad” has been shot in multiple areas: Skardu, Khalpu, Deosai plain, Astore Valley and Hunza Valley lying amongst them.
Based on what the final product looks like, we must say that the entire team has done a tremendous job! All the different landscapes have been captured brilliantly well – The lush green hills, clear lakes and stream, local villages, majestic waterfalls and glorious mountains.
The makers have also managed to communicate the message of Azaadi while portraying, the often misunderstood, culture of Pakistan.
Viccaji shares how the locals of the area helped her out during the strenuous shoot!
