The unadulterated-distinctive vocals of Meesha Shafi – return with ‘Bholay Bhalay’, in her fourth appearance on Coke Studio this season. Written by Sabir Zafar and composed by Shani Arshad – the track is the meeting point of a contemporary Qawwali with a funk infused folk melody without limiting the genre geographically to a particular region. The eccentric anthem opens with Shani’s cameo on a vocoder with his sampled voice, as the psychedelic guitar-driven tune makes way for the interjections of the harmonium and the classical Sitar sound, gelling perfectly with Misha’s textured voice amidst the dynamic instrumentation.
