Renowned fashion designer, show director, and tv host, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin aka HSY, makes his first appearance on television as ‘Akram’ in the upcoming mega drama serial ‘Pehli Si Mohabbat’. The tv show also features a star-studded cast with renowned names such as Sheheryar Munawar, Maya Ali, Nausheen Shah, and Saba Faisal. This marks the star’s debut performance on the small screen where he is cast as one of the lead characters in a drama. The iDreams Production is directed by Anjum Shehzad and written by Faiza Iftikhar.
Pehli Si Mohabbat Teaser featuring HSY
One of the teaser trailers for ‘Pehli Si Mohabbat’ featured HSY standing in a dark room with the spotlight on him as his expressions further grow more intense and his character ‘Akram’ reads love letters which were sent by Sheheryar Munawar’s character ‘Aslam’ and Maya Ali’s character ‘Rakshi’. Obviously disapproving of their love affair, ‘Akram’ tears the papers into shreds while remaining steadfast in his convictions.
HSY’s first look in character was also revealed early in December. The official drama poster sparked the attention of many viewers and celebrities such as Mahira Khan, Kubra Khan and Dino Ali. Audiences were stunned to see his incredible transformation as HSY’s depiction of a stereotypically orthodox/religious character is unlike ever seen before. The role clearly depicts the icon in a new light, wearing classic shalwar kameez with an Islamic hat and a heavy beard. ‘Akram’ could be seen as a stereotype but more on that will be relieved as the series transpires.
When asked to elaborate on his character, HSY stated, “I resonated with this character because of his respect for family and his duty to take care of his mother. But the conflict I found was the way he handles situations because that is very unlike me and therefore making it much more challenging to play. I read the script many times to fully understand his motives and decisions. The great part about this role is how my character evolves and changes. That, for me, was unbelievable because it gave me immense room to grow as an actor.”
Storyline of Pehli Si Mohabbat
The plot revolves around a doomed romance due to family intervention and disapproval. The highly anticipated drama serial has already gauged the attention of audiences nationwide and seeing the characters in action further sparked curiosity across the board. The storyline further emphasizes conservative family values in Eastern societies and shows a close-knit family who experiences ups and downs due to certain clashes in mindset. Tensions start to rise as ‘Aslam’ and ‘Rakshi’s’ romance faces trials and tribulations because of the opposition from Aslam’s family, specifically by ‘Akram’ played by HSY. The plot involves a lot of romance and is said to set itself apart from other tv series.
HSY has already gauged audience attention nationwide and shown his knack for diversity after taking on this role. ‘Pehli Si Mohabbat’ is said to set itself apart from all other drama serials with its unique storyline. More details on that will be disclosed at a later date.
